"In the 1930s ordinary people across Europe rallied to aid the people of Republican Spain, who faced the bombing of towns and the massacres of civilians by the jackbooted General Franco. The cry was "Aidez L'Espagne!" – today the call should be "Viva Palestina!""
George Galloway, British MP, in The Guardian.
It's been confirmed that a humanitarian convoy of material aid "headed by a fire-engine, packed full with donated firefighting equipment," will indeed be setting out from the UK on February 14th 2009, heading for Gaza.
"We will all assemble in London on Saturday 14 February, on Valentine's Day, to set off to Palestine, journeying through Paris, Madrid and Casablanca, then across north Africa to Rafah. We will travel with speed, with hope and with love," said George Galloway.
The convoy is aimed at breaking the aid but mainly the media blockade.
