Creativity and courage or how to beat censorship in Tunisia

Posted in
Tunisia is probably the country in the Arab world suffering the most from online censorship. It has also one of the most courageous and creative community of bloggers and online activists in the region. Last Saturday, activists tried to organize a peaceful march to demand the end of censorship and arbitrary blocking of websites by the government. Slim Amamou and Yassin Ayari who took upon themselves the brave responsibility of organizing the protest, were refused access to the legal procedure that allows the issuing of a permit and were then apprehended by the authorities, forced to call off the march then released. The following video tells the story of a movement that was born on May 22th, the day the march was due to take place, and that will hopefully grow stronger and stronger in the days ahead. Those guys need support.
